Reviving this broken link again. MBA Shem-BA all done. Back to the grill again. What has changed -!!
Thinking about starting writing seriously meaning thereby that writing more and writing frequently. So, there you go. I start again.
Late night net'ing after quite a while. Freezing temperatures outside, winters in their full gleam... i'm liking it.
Will continue with a theme at the rate of at least one per week. Surely , surely so.

Party Time
9/4- Quiz
11/4 - Quiz
13/4 - Exam
14/4 - Exam
15/4 - Quiz
That was the week that was. If you thought that was tough, there's worse to follow in the coming week
So on Sunday evening it was party time to celebrate the marriage anniversaries of 5 of our batchmates.
The staid TH was converted into 'The Dublin' with 'Chottu' as the DJ. Midway thro the party came the news that one assignment due for submission on Monday had been postponed - what followed was the proverbial 'demand spike' (for alcohol silly !!!). With one ex-Army guy and one ex-Customs guy in our fold not to mention many Sharaabis thats one commodity thats never in short supply. Liquor flowed like tears in a Ekta Kapoor serial. All had a great time - the kids specially.
Tried my hand at dancing - not good - i'll try to shake my leg next time. Better results hopefully
Came back and actually worked on the assignment. Amazing what a bit of alcohol can do to your creative spirits
Back to the grind now

So, technically this would qualify as my first publishing in the blogging world.
As we get past the half way mark of this journey called PGPEX, I've mixed feelings. Similar one where you run a sprint so fast without looking at the direction just to realize after a while that the earth is round. The faster you run, sooner you make the circle and more often you "wonder". Every such cycle reminds me of the play "Waiting for godot".
So, what have we gained? - diplomatically we can term it as - exposure. Of what? - More people. Wasn't 31 years enough? Well. This is dangerous argument to argue for or against. We stop right here on this dimension.
Another dimension - learning.. No offense. That's what i use to brag about when people asked a few months back - why change? why change now? Difficult to face those folks with confidence now. But ain't we tought to brag and brag without substance in MBA - Well yes, but then you face the mirror everyday. What else - some hostilities as well.
Eternal debate about more and more about less and less OR less and less about more and more. Managements supposedly deals with later approach but then it should have a linear correlation with what we call conventional wisdom - Isn't it? Having a perspective and opinion on everything - no rights and wrongs. Then why seemingly disconnect. Decision making, risk taking, influencing are character attributes. Can it be taught? I disagree - by and large.
Confused - State of mind where you can't decide on which alternative to pick. But then why do we need to pick. Wait and you would realise that all alternatives die their natural death and the most convenient one remains. Seems like the most tried strategy as on date.
Signing off now. Time for the run again. Where - wherever godot takes!! :)

Wrote this to a couple of friends in Term -1. Pasting here to get the ball rolling and build some inertia at the site.
**********************************************************************************
It has been quite a while that I've been thinking about writing about first few days here. Days became weeks and weeks turned months. Finally, got this opportunity at 4:00AM to pen down a few words.
Last week was unusually busy. Who would have thought that a week next to end of Term-1 would be more stressful than the Term-end exams itself. Four continuous sleepless nights. Swinging from neural networks in MATLAB to the stock movements along the regression curves wasn't something we thought would follow immediately after Term End exams. Rest as they say is history. We're getting used to typical routine of IIMC. When complained to one of the profs here, here're the responses:
1. I can bet and prove that I'm more overworked than you guys.
2. Sleep deprivation is part of the teaching methodology here. You'll get used to it. Sooner the better.
A typical day starts at 9AM and ends at 3-4AM. During heavy days it becomes 9AM-6AM. Continuous fear of "surprise" quizzes, 20 pages cases, night long assignments and 100 pages chapters are getting into the psyche surely. We've our group activities planned at 2:00AM because that's the only common time available in the whole of the day.
Professors are great. Particularly Economics and Finance ones – the ones which IIMC is known for. All Chatterjees, Sens, Basus, Sinhas are phenomenals. Worse even, we're not being able to exploit their potential. They've a world to offer and we've only 24 hours a day to absorb.
At the stress levels, I'm not really doing bad. Working for 16 hours was part of presales routine and pretty comfortable with night outs as compared to most of us. Continuous night outs for the whole week was really not that hard. Dealing with ambiguities and uncertainties too is coming out naturally. Overall happy.
Regarding Performance, me not doing that great but can improve this term. Competitive spirit among 30-35 yr olds is as fierce as 22-24 ones. Lure of consulting and i-banking is keeping people on their toes. Rat race is going on.
Batch has a mix. Some girls as well in the batch – 4 of them. They're doing great academically as expected but would not be the same for long.
Campus is good but not great. Full of lakes and small hawrah bridge. 6 lakes/ponds in all. Some migratory birds. This batch is getting quite some attention here and envy of the PGP folks.
Need to sign off here.
